History of Pu-erh
Pu-erh originated thousands of years ago in the Yunnan Province of China. Pu-erh tea, known as “black tea” in the Far East is named after the market town in which it was first developed. Pu-erh was transported by horses in long caravans along established routes that became known as the Tea Horse Roads. Traders would barter for tea in the markets of Pu-erh County and then hire the caravans to carry the tea back to their respective homes. The tea was so valueable that to preserve it's quality on these long roads they decided to ferment it. The aging process results in a slow fermentation, and it can take up to 15 years for a 'raw' (unfermented) pu-erh to get to the beautiful dark color and flavor that is synonomis with the leaf. Commonly sold in cakes for thousands of dollars, Pu-erh is coveted by many for it's value + it's taste.
Pu-erh has many benefits other than the rich taste. Preventing free radical damage, boosting immunity, lowering cholesterol, increasing the metabolism + aiding in digestion are just a few of the benefits of adding a cup of YAXCHE Good Karma into your day.
